Leopard Tattoos and Tattoo Designs

The leopard is smallest of the four big cats in the feline family. It is characterized by its spots, relatively short legs and large skull. They are often mistaken for other spotted cats, but the leopard's "spots" are actually rosettes, more intricate than a cheetah's but without an inner spot that jaguars have. Although the leopard was originally thought to be a hybrid of a lion and a panther, it was later found to be untrue. The leopard will eat virtually any animal it can hunt down and catch. Although it once roamed a larger region that included Korea and South Africa, the leopard now mostly inhabits sub-Sahara Africa.

The strength and power of the African leopard represents the masculine qualities of the hunter. It also symbolizes social order and stability. Wearing the leopard skin was traditionally reserved for royalty and symbolized power and wealth. In some regions, the leopard was a powerful totem animal, most infamously with a cult that believed that by eating the flesh and blood of their victims they could be transformed into leopards. These 'leopard men' terrorized villages with ritual killings using a metal-pronged weapon that simulated the leopard's slashing, gashing and mauling.

Leopard tattoo designs make a strong masculine statement, one that symbolizes strength, speed, courage and endurance.

Libra Tattoos and Tattoo Designs

Libra is the seventh astrological sign in the Zodiac, originating from the constellation of Libra. It is considered to be a masculine, extrovert, air sign, ruled by the planet Venus. Individuals born between September 23rd and October 22nd are considered to be born under the sign of Libra. Libras are thought to be diplomatic, cooperative, balanced, flirty, romantic and sociable.

In Greek mythology, Libra is associated with the goddess of Justice, Themis. It is also connected to Atalanta (meaning balanced) and Astraea (daughter of Justice). She fled the wickedness of the earth to the sky with the Scales of Balance. She became the constellation Virgo and the Scales became the nearby constellation Libra.

Libra is represented by The Scales of Balance and is the only symbol of the zodiac that is not represented by an animal or a person. The Scales are common theme in Libra tattoos. Libra is also associated with thought, perspective and communication. Although scales and balance tattoos are usually worn by Libras, the scale is also the symbol for the legal system. Lawyers, judges and other people interested injustice are sometimes marked by a Libra tattoo.

Leo Tattoos and Tattoo Designs

Leo is the fifth astrological sign of the Zodiac, originating from the constellation of Leo. It is considered to be a masculine, extroverted, fire sign, ruled by the Sun. Individuals born between July 23rd and August 22nd are said to be born under the sign of Leo. Leos are considered to be creative, arrogant, dramatic, bossy, generous and loyal.

Leo is represented by the Nemean Lion, a vicious monster. The warrior Hercules eventually killed the monster as a part of the Twelve Labors he completed in order to gain his honor back. Hercules killed the lion by cornering it and choking it after he realized it that its pelt made it invincible to physical attacks. Because he had to take the pelt back, Hercules struggled to remove it and could only do so with the lion's own claws. After Hercules returned with the pelt, the king was so shocked that he gave Hercules the lion's invincible pelt to wear.

The astrological symbol for Leo is the lowercase letter "N" with lots of curves added to it. Some astrologers say that it represents the head and mane of the lion. Other said that it is the tail of the lion. This symbol shows up in many Leo tattoos as well as lion or a lion's mane. While most people wearing Leo tattoos were born under that sign, the lion is a power symbol in itself of life, resurrection and power. It is also a popular mascot, resulting in many tattoos by hardcore sports fans.

Lips Tattoos and Tattoo Designs

Lips are a visible body part at the mouth of humans and many animals. Lips are soft, protruding, movable, and serve as the opening for food intake, as an erogenous organ used in kissing and other acts of intimacy, as a tactile sensory organ, and in the articulation of speech. The skin of the lip is very thin compared to the rest of the face. Because of this, the blood vessels appear through the skin of the lips, which leads to their notable red coloring. The lip also lacks sweat glands or sebaceous glands. Therefore, it does not have the usual protection layer of sweat and body oils that keep the skin smooth, inhibit pathogens, and regulate warmth. For these reasons, the lips dry out faster and become chapped more easily.

Lips are our communication centers. It's how we speak and make ourselves heard. The phrase ''read my lips'' is an expression of how we use our lips to be understood by others.Without lips, most communication would be impossible. Lips are also an erogenous zone because of their high amounts of nerve endings. The lips therefore play a crucial role in kissing and other acts of intimacy. As the mouth, lips, and tongue are among a woman's most erogenous zones, stimulating a woman's mouth and lips during acts of intimacy has been shown to elicit pleasure and to have a direct stimulatory effect on arousing her genital organs. Reproductive psychologists have suggested that one reason the female lips are seen as sexually attractive might be because they mimic the appearance and sexual swelling of the labia of the vulva, and that a woman's lips are effectively a secondary sexual organ. This is consistent with research showing male sexual attitudes towards a woman's lips and mouth to be very similar to those towards a woman's vulva. Furthermore, in many cultures of the world, a woman's mouth and lips are veiled because of their representative association with the vulva, and because of their role as a woman's secondary sexual organ.

Lips tattoos are a symbol for feminine sensuality and sexuality. Almost all lip tattoos are representation of female lips. Lip tattoos are associated with love, sex and the feminine mystique.
