Panda Tattoos

Panda tattoos are not considered very mainstream, so if you’re looking for a unique tattoo, look no further. Because of their black-and-white coloring, panda tattoos can often symbolize balance or yin and yang. Panda tattoos can also represent a positive outlook on life. Panda tattoos can also symbolize strength, serenity, peace, and calm, because these traits are associated with pandas. Panda tattoos can also represent a passion for environmentalism, especially because they are an endangered species. Pandas are native to China, where their name literally translates to “big bear cat.” Even though dragons are China’s national symbol, the panda is equally as recognizable. In the 1970s, the People’s Republic of China gave gifts of pandas to Japanese and American zoos, signifying some of the first cultural interactions between China and the West, and coming to be known as panda diplomacy. After 1984, the People’s Republic of China stopped offering pandas as gifts and instead offered pandas to other countries on ten-year loans, sometimes with a fee up to $1,000,000 per year.
