Aries Tattoos and Tattoo Designs

Aries, the ram, is the first astrological sign in the Zodiac and originates from the constellation Aries. Those born between March 21st and April 19th are said to be born under the sign of Aries. Aries is considered a masculine, extrovert, fire sign and ruled by the planet Mars.

In mythology, Aries is associated with the Greek mythological figure of Theseus from the Greek myth of the Minotaur, half man and half beast. Aries individuals are often said to be courageous, impatient, impulsive, self-confident and stubborn.

The sign of Aries is symbolize by a "V" with curves, which represents the head and horns of the ram. Aries tattoos often incorporate rams or at least their horns.

Aquarius Tattoos and Tattoo Designs

The sign of Aquarius is the eleventh sign in the zociac and originates from the constellation Aquarius. In the western world, those born from January 20th to February 18th are said to be born under the sign of Aquarius. In astrology, Aquarius is a masculine, extroverted, air sign. Although Aquarius was traditionally ruled by the planet Saturn, but modern astrologers consider Uranus to be its ruler. The constellation Aquarius is associated in Greek mythology with Ganymede, the cupbearer of the gods. Hence, the astrological sign Aquarius is often symbolized by an urn spilling water. Aquarians are said to be stubborn, inventive, open minded, have high expectations, be aloof, free spirited and unpredictable. Aquarius is an air sign, which makes it associated with thought, perspective and communication.

Aquarius tattoos incorporate two jagged lines above each other that are supposed to represent waves. Aquarius tattoos can also depict actual water, waves, and sea character as well as a water bearer.

Anni Friesinger Olympic Celebrity Tattoos

Anni Friesinger has a tattoo of Celtic tribal flames on her stomach, just above her belly button. Those with Celtic designs are usually paying tribute to their ethic heritage, but this is not so for Friesinger because she is German. (Besides, her family hates her tattoo!) Tribal tattoos are graphic designs done in traditional style. Tribals tattoos were originally done to identify certain groups, tribes, clan or families together. The tattoos would allow distant relatives to recognize them and some believed that these tattoos would help them be reunited if they were ever separated from their families. Tribal tattoos can also denote rites of passage, including marriage, puberty or childbirth. Flames tattoos can also have many meanings. They can represent transformation, destruction, change, or passion. For some, their flame tattoos can be a beacon of light or knowledge or a warning to themselves.

Anna Christina Friesinger (born January 11, 1977) is a German speed skater. Her German father and Polish mother were speed skaters, as well as her brother and sister. Shehas won four Olympic medals in her career and has set the world record for the 1500m race three times. Although her final world record has been superseded by Canadian speed skater Cindy Klassen, Friesinger still holds the Olympic record. She has done some modeling on the side and is considered a sex symbol in the sporting world. She is currently living in Austria with former Dutch skater Ids Postma.

Ankh Tattoos and Tattoo Designs

The ankh is an Egyptian hieroglyph or symbol that means "life". The exact origin is unknown but it is one of the oldest symbol in the ancient world. It is depicted a cross with a loop over the top, symbolizing many different natural phenomena. Some say that its shape represents the male and female gods, Osiris and Isis, with the cross representing the male phallus and the oval representing the female womb. The oval also represents the sun rising over the horizon of the cross. The ankh also represents the meeting of heaven and earth.

Many Egyptians gods were depicted with holding the ankh along with a scepter in front of deceased members of the royal family. That pairing is thought to have symbolized the breath of eternal life. Later the ankh came to represent elements of water and air as well as the power of the entire universe. As time went on, the ankh began to be called the Egyptian cross or the "key of life" because of its key-like shape and the belief that it could unlock the gates of death. Today ankh tattoos are often worn by those displaying their spirituality. The ankh tattoo is also thought to provide protection to the wearer.
