Brian Grant shows his love of Bob Marley through his tattoo on his right shoulder. He got the tattoo during while he was dabbling in Rastafarianism. The tattoo is head portrait of the famous singer with the word "Prophet" tattooed underneath. "I got into Marley pretty heavy. That guy was deep. He was fighting for the rights of his people and, at the same time, equality for everyone." Grant also has an Asian inspired crest on his left shoulder that has tribal elements, Asian kanji of an unknown meaning and two fish facing each other. He was born under the sign of Pisces, so the tattoo probably refers to his astrological sign.

He played for twelve years as the power forward and center on five different teams for the National Basketball Association. He began with the Sacramento Kings in 1994 as a first round draft pick and went on to play for the Portland Trail Blazers, the Miami heat, the Los Angeles Lakers, the Phoenix Suns and finally the Boston Celtics. Buddha & Buddhist Tattoos and Tattoo Designs

Buddhist tattoos are worn by those who are either followers of the religion or look to incorporate some of its teachings into their lives. Buddha tattoos are most often seen withsome sort of representation of Siddhartha Gautama, a short portly man with an extended stomach. Other symbols of Buddhism are the "mandala", an endless knot representing harmony, and the lotus flower, which represents enlightenment. There is also the wheel of Dharma, which represents knowledge. Buddhist tattoos may also incorporate the conchshell as a symbol of the thoughts of Buddha.

Bull & Taurus Tattoos and Tattoo Designs

Cattle was one of the first animals domesticated by man and can be found in widespread areas, making it an important part of early man's life. Cattle provided dependable, manageable supplies meat, milk, and clothing among other things. The bull, which was the source of fertilization to a herd of cattle, became an important figure in mythology, revered and worshipped. The bull would go on to symbolize power, strength, resurrection, masculinity, fertility and fatherhood through the culture of the world, from Ancient Macedonia to Greece to modern day India.

The bull is often positioned as the sun god in much of mythologythanks to his fertility, fiery temperament and role as father of the herd. The bull is the king of the farm, a personification of brute strength and power. And because he is associated with the sun, the bull is also a symbol of life and resurrection. Resurrection is a huge theme inChristianity and the bull being lead into the ring for bull fighting is associated with Christ being led to the cross. There is even a certain movement of the bullfighter's cape that is called the Veronica Pass, named for the woman who wiped the blood and sweat from Christ's face as he was forced to carry the cross.

Bulls are common team mascots so a bull tattoo can mean that you're just a sports fan. It is also the symbol of the astrological sign, Taurus, so bull tattoos can mean that the wearer was born between April 20th and May 20th. Bull tattoos also denote fierceness, stubbornness and masculinity.

At first a butterfly is an ugly caterpillar and nobody even thinks to give it a second look. With time and dedication it transforms into something breathtaking. The metamorphosis process makes the butterfly a powerful symbol for transformation. Throughout our life we will be faced with change and transformation. A butterfly tattoo is an excellent way to remember that change, the dedication it took, and serves as a constant reminder to make the necessary changes when the opportunities present themselves.

Butterfly Facts

  • About 28,000 known butterfly species throughout the world

  • Butterflies weigh as little as two rose petals (could incorporate this into your tattoo design)

  • The wings of a butterfly are actually transparent; the vivid colors are due to overlapping bright scales

  • Butterflies only fly during the day

  • You won’t kill a butterfly by touching its wings

Butterfly Tattoo Testimonials

  • I just received my butterfly tattoo a month ago and for me it symbolizes a new life, a new beginning if you will. For years I have tried to please everyone by being someone I’m not. My butterfly tattoo was a gift to me for being me. The process was exhilarating and the tattoo is calm, vibrant, colorful, and most of all beautiful. Everything that I want to be.

  • My grandma died and before she was buried she was put into her coffin in a closed depressing room that didn’t have windows or ventilation. A dismal electric bulb was the only thing that lighted her while her loved ones said goodbye. When they arrived into the room they found a butterfly flying around with its vivid colored wings and it has remained a mystery of how it arrived there. This incident caused me to get a butterfly tattoo. For me my tattoo symbolizes the spirit, life and death with its three stages of mankind, and reincarnation. Finally, it also symbolizes the short and intense life and the magic dust on a butterfly’s wing is our freedom that enables our flight.

In conclusion butterfly tattoos are not only a great choice for their vivid colors and beauty, but also for the deep rooted meanings they can provide.
