Sagittarius is the ninth astrological sign in the Zodiac, originating from the constellation of Sagittarius. It is considered to be masculine, extroverted, fire sign, ruled by Jupiter. Those born between November 22nd and December 21st are said to be born under the sign of Sagittarius. Sagittarius individuals are said to be free spirited, moral, intelligent, adventurous, witty conversationalist and reliable.

In Greek mythology Sagittarius is often associated with the centaur, an adventurous brave and wise creature also given to uncivilized behavior. Sagittarius is also connected Chiron, a famous centaur. He was a great healer, astrologer and respected oracle. He was also revered as great teacher and mentor. Many of mythology's heroes (Ajax, Achilles, Jason, Hercules and Phoenix) found themselves under his tutelage.

Chiron's bow and arrow or the Archer is the symbol of Sagittarius. It can be seen in Sagittarius's astrological symbol, a diagonal cross with an arrow at its head.
