Pisces is the twelfth astrological sign in the Zodiac and originates from the Pisces constellation. The Pisces sign is feminine, extroverted water sign, ruled by the planet Neptune. Individuals born between February 19th and March 20th are said to be born under the sign of Pisces. They are reportedly impressionable, easygoing, likeable, sensitive, impractical, imaginative, gullible, spiritual individuals.

In mythology, Pisces originated with Aphrodite, the goddess of love, and Eros, a minor god of love and her son. (Eros is what our modern day image of cupid is based on.) The two were fleeing the Typhon, the god of wind and a grotesque creature that sported a hundred serpent heads. In order to throw Typhon off their trails, Aphrodite and Eros turned themselves into fish and hid underwater. They tied their tails together so they wouldn't lose one another while swimming in the deep murky water. When they recounted their escape to Zeus, ruler of the gods, he rewarded them by placing them in the stars as the constellation Pisces.

The astrological symbol for Pisces is a stylized letter "H". It is said to represent two fish swimming in opposite directions but held together at the tail. The symbol is often featured in Pisces themed tattoos. Another element commonly found in Pisces tattoos are actually representations of fish. Sometimes the fish are tattooed one right below the other, head to tail, to symbolize their togetherness. Pisces tattoos also usually incorporate water elements like bubbles, waves, seaweed, etc. The Pisces sign rules the feet, so it isn't a surprise to find fish tattoos on the wearer's foot.
